Transition Considerations

Students who were declared business majors prior to fall term 2007 may choose to transition and use the degree requirements of the new business core curriculum. Please note that students must fulfill all degree requirements of the chosen curriculum.

To transition from the old business core curriculum to the new business core curriculum, a student:

  • Must complete BA 131 Business Productivity Software, or an equivalent business software course with a focus on spreadsheet model development, or demonstrate proficiency in spreadsheet model develop.  The demonstrated spreadsheet competency will be used as a substitute for the BA 101 Business Now course.
  • Must complete WR 222 English Composition, WR 323 English Composition, or WR 327 Technical Writing.
  • Must complete BA 260 Introduction to Entrepreneurship.
  • May substitute BA 230 Business Law for both BA 233 Legal Environment of Business AND BA 333 Legal and Ethical Business Solutions PROVIDED that the BA 230 course was completed prior to fall term 2007.
  • May substitute BA 275 Quantitative Business Methods for both BA 276 Introduction to Statistical Analysis  AND BA 376 Applied Quantitative Methods PROVIDED that the BA 275 course was completed prior to fall term 2007.
  • May substitute BA 271 Information Technology in Business  for BA 302 Business Process Management PROVIDED that the BA 271 course was completed prior to fall term 2007.
  • May substitute BA 471 Management Information Systems for BA 370 Business Systems Analysis PROVIDED that the BA 471 course was completed prior to fall term 2007.
