College of Business Students Take Fundraising to the Extreme
ESPN might not broadcast extreme fundraising like other forms of high-octane entertainment, but that could change if College of Business students Tate Koenig and Keegan Warrington have anything to do with it. In December 2009, the OSU sophomores will participate in the Africa Rally, a fundraising effort consisting of a six-week, 10,000-mile race from England to Cameroon in an un-suitable car. Koenig and Warrington hope the rally raises awareness for their sustainability-focused charity they started with Zach Lowry, a fellow OSU student, called Citizens of the World (COW).

OSU Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma Earns "Exemplary" Status
The OSU chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international collegiate honors society for business students, has been named an Exemplary Chapter for the 2008-2009 year. Chapter adviser Madeleine Romero said the group has earned the designation for several years running.

OSU MBAs Certified in Project Management
OSU College of Business MBA students Phuong Nguyen, Reed Reeve, and Garren Wood passed the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam. Established in 1984, the PMP recognizes an individual's demonstrated understanding of the knowledge and skills to lead and direct project teams.

Undergraduate Paul Heim Named Petters International Scholar
OSU College of Business junior Paul Heim has been named one of 20 international scholars for 2009 by the John T. Petters Foundation and will receive $6,000. The prestigious and competitive memorial scholarships were established to provide undergraduates with financial support for study abroad programs. As an Arthur Stonehill International Business Exchange Program student, Heim will study international finance this fall at the University of Lund in Sweden. He has also been selected to receive an OSU College of Business Dean's International Study Scholarship.

Accounting Graduate Wins Silver Medal on CPA Exam
Robert J. Wolfer, a 2007 graduate of the OSU College of Business with a degree in accountancy, garnered the second highest score on the 2008 CPA examination in the State of Oregon. Wolfer was among nearly 700 test takers.

OSCPA Educational Foundation Scholarships Awarded to 42 Oregon College Students
The Oregon Society of CPAs (OSCPA) is pleased to announce that the following students from Oregon State University received scholarships through The OSCPA Educational Foundation.

Undergraduate Business Student Receives Research Award
College of Business student Monée Madrigale received an Undergraduate Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Creativity (URISC) award for her project titled, "Increasing Fruits and Vegetable Consumption among Oregon Food Stamp Recipients."

College of Business Students Present Marketing Plan to Local Enterprise
Students in a graduate-level management and marketing class tested their business acumen while presenting a marketing plan to Animal Crackers Pet Supply. Cellen Coakley, Giang Dang, Cheri Hahn, and Michelle Funk had only four weeks to formulate a marketing strategy and present recommendations to the Corvallis-based pet supply store.

Business Student to Undergo Internship with Citigroup
Jonathan Moravec, a junior majoring in business with a finance option, was selected to participate in a ten-week summer internship program with Citigroup. He was one of 35 students to receive an internship and competed against 2200 applicants, many from Ivy-league schools.

Accounting Graduate Wins Bronze Medal on CPA Exam
College of Business graduate Steve Sharpe received the third highest score on the 2007 CPA exam in the State of Oregon. Sharpe, who earned his degree in accountancy with an option in finance last year, was among more than 1300 test takers.

Outside the Border: Jacob Cramer Secures Internship in Germany
Jacob Cramer learned that adventure can lead to opportunity when he took a trip to Germany last school year to fulfill his international business option.

Business Student Learned from Internship with Mariners
Chris Yost, a senior majoring in Business with an option in Management, spent the summer working for the Seattle Mariners. After realizing that his career desires lay in the field of major league baseball, he decided to apply for the internship.

MBA Students Receive Certified Associate in Project Management Credential
Nine out of 11 MBA students passed the Certified Associate in Project Management exam, administered by the Project Management Institute. Christian Barthruff, Erik Rehn, Frank Shala, Ginger Butler, Joshua Horton, Marianne Gardner, Matthew Muller, Peter Sealy, and Pinyarat Sirisomboonsuk all received the CAPM credential.

Business Students Make Finals in Ethics Competition, Credit Classroom Training
Students Teri Young and Elise Abramson took fourth place at the 2007 Eller Ethics Case Competition at the University of Arizona October 25-27. This is the third time that an OSU College of Business team made it to the final round.

Halo 4 Heroes: Students Organize Game Tournament to Support Charity
Video game excitement and philanthropy come together during the Halo 4 Heroes tournament held November 16 & 17 in OSU's Bexell Hall. Organized by students from the College of Business's project management class, the competition gives gamers a chance to battle alien forces and win a number of prizes. Proceeds from the $10 registration fee will support the National Military Family Association, Inc.
