Junior Accounting Workship
The Junior Accounting Workship (AKA JAW Breaker) is a fun, interactive event for students beginning their accounting option. The purpose of the event is to give students a good start in the accounting program and in their accounting careers. Students team up with other students, faculty, and professionals for a variety of activities.
Half the day is spent on the OSU Challenge Course with groups having a great time solving problems and building teamwork skills.
The other half of the day is spent solving an accounting scenario. One year the focus was ethics, another year it was e-commerce.
At lunch, students receive coaching on dining etiquette.
The day usually ends with a social time, dinner and presentation from an accounting professional.
There are several reasons to attend JAW Breaker:
- Get to know the students and accounting faculty you will be "living" with for the next 2 or 3 years.
- Sharpen your teamwork skills on the OSU Challenge Course. An incredible amount of teamwork is required in accounting courses.
- Learn more about the accounting profession through activities, speakers, and your team's professional accountant mentor.
- Meet and interact with accounting professionals from public accounting, private industry, and government and non-profit organizations.
- Expand your knowledge of global business.
- Have FUN!!
