Undergraduate Business Student Receives Research Award

College of Business student Monée Madrigale received an Undergraduate Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Creativity (URISC) award for her project titled, "Increasing Fruits and Vegetable Consumption among Oregon Food Stamp Recipients."
Madrigale is a business administration student with an option in marketing and international business. She will be working with marketing professor Hal Koenig on research that will help an advertising agency develop a campaign aimed at increasing fruit and vegetable consumption among families receiving food stamps. "This is a great 'real world' opportunity to see how research results can affect the direction of an advertising campaign," said Koenig. After the advertising campaign runs, a follow-up study in fall 2009 will determine the campaign's effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
"I think this is such a great thing to be a part of considering it is for the benefit of people's health in Oregon communities, and ultimately around the country," said Madrigale. "Receiving this award, especially as a business student doing something marketing-based rather than science-based, is a big accomplishment." |
