College of Business Advisor Receives Certificate of Merit
Carol Leder, an academic advisor and the international exchange coordinator for the OSU College of Business, has been awarded the 2009 National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Pacific Northwest Region 8 Academic Advising Certificate of Merit. She is being recognized for her excellent work in the field of academic advising and will be honored along with other winners at the 2009 Region 8 Conference in Missoula, Montana, April 27-29.

College of Business Advisor Recognized by OSU Athletics
College of Business advisor Jayne Andersen is being honored by the OSU Athletics Department for her commitment to serving the unique academic needs of student athletes. Andersen was selected for the award amongst all academic advisors on campus and will receive recognition for her contributions at the February 27 gymnastics meet against UCLA.

Fred E. Winger Honored for Business Education
Fred E. Winger, late husband of Lorrine Skaff-Winger, of Ashland, was inducted into the Business Education National Hall of Fame recently in recognition of his contributions to Business Education. Winger moved to Ashland in 1993, after his marriage to Lorrine. Winger completed his Ed.D. in business education at the University of Oregon in Eugene in 1950, while he taught at Oregon State University in Corvallis.

King to Deliver Presentation on Mobile Commerce Privacy Issues at Portland State University
Business law professor Nancy King will be the featured speaker at Portland State University's Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science, Department of Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) in February 2009. Her presentation, titled "Data Privacy Law and Mobile Commerce," is part of the ETM's technology management seminar series for technology managers, scholars and graduate students and is open to the public.

Austin Family Business Program Honored for Effort in Woodland Owners Project
Oregon State University's Austin Family Business Program is part of a team receiving the 2008 Forestry Extension Cooperator of the Year Award for their involvement in Ties to the Land, a collaborative outreach program that helps woodland owners plan for succession.

Business Research Team Receives AT&T Environmental Fellowship Grant
Business faculty Zhaohui Wu of Oregon State University, Jacob Park of Green Mountain College, and Joseph Sarkis of Clark University received a $25,000 grant from AT&T's Industrial Ecology Faculty Fellowship program.

Accounting Faculty Honored with Student Learning and Success Teamwork Award
Oregon State University selected College of Business accounting faculty Monica Banyi, Amy Bourne, Carol Brown, Larry Brown, Dennis Caplan, Roger Graham, Byron Marshall, and Jared Moore to receive the Student Learning and Success Teamwork Award. The award was presented at the 2008 University Day held on September 18. The team received $5,000 that will go toward supporting student learning and success activities.

Elston Promoted to Associate Editor of Small Business Economics Journal
Julie Ann Elston, an assistant professor of International Business at the OSU Cascades campus, has been promoted from the editorial board to associate editor of Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal.

Yang's Research Provides Insights for Stock Trading Decision Making and Financial Planning
Jimmy Yang's research paper, "The Effect of Price Limits on Intraday Volatility and Information Asymmetry" has been accepted for publication in Pacific-Basin Finance Journal.

Moore's Paper on Tax Implications to be Published in The Journal of the American Taxation Association
Professor Jared Moore's paper, titled "The Impact of Tax Status on the Relation between Employee Stock Options and Debt" will be published in the spring 2008 edition of The Journal of the American Taxation Association.

Reitsma Invited to Global Development Conference
Rene Reitsma has been invited to attend the 35th anniversary celebration and conference of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) to be held in Vienna, Austria in November.

Graham Appointed to Accounting Committees
Professor Roger Graham has been appointed to the scientific committee for the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA) Annual Meeting and the Research Grants Committee for the Certified General Accountants (CGA).

Caplan to Present Research at PSU Sustainability Conference
Dennis Caplan's paper titled "Can Accountants Embrace a Conceptual Framework that Accommodates Corporate Social Responsibility?" has been accepted for presentation at the Sustainability and Supply Chain Conference to be held in Portland November 1-2, 2007.

Malkewitz Research Examining Product Design Earns Prestigious Award
Keven Malkewitz, assistant professor of Marketing and Ulrich Orth, Professor and Chair of Agribusiness and Food Marketing at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel, Germany, were presented with the "William H. Darden Award" for the paper with the best research methodology at the annual conference of the Academy of Marketing Science in Coral Gables, FL.

Graham Invited to Teach at University of Auckland
Roger Graham, KPMG Professor of Accounting in the College of Business at OSU, has been invited to University of Auckland as a Visiting Professor.

McAlexander Honored with Richard M. Bressler Senior Faculty Teaching Award
Jim McAlexander has been selected as co-recipient of the Richard M. Bressler Senior Faculty Teaching Award for 2007.

Academy of Management Journal Named Don Neubaum to Editorial Board
Professor Don Neubaum has been named to the editorial review board of the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ).

Dibrell Selected as Recipient of Fulbright
Clay Dibrell, associate professor of management, received a competitive grant through the Fulbright Scholar Program which sends approximately 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year.

Nancy King's Research in Collaboration with Affiliate Faculty Kishani Kalupahana Accepted for Publication
After a year and a half of research and collaboration between King, a business law associate professor and Kalupahana, an affiliate faculty, their article, "Liberalization vs. Regulatory Autonomy under GATS: Implications of US-Gambling for Trade in Cross-Border E-Services" has been accepted for publication by the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law, forthcoming in November 2007.

Mathew Ads to Research Portfolio with Paper on Impact of Regulation Fair Disclosure
Prem Mathew, Assistant Professor of Finance, adds to his impressive research portfolio with his latest and most significant publication to date in the field of finance.

Larson's Project Management Class Rocked Corvallis, Benefited Charity
Erik Larson, known at the COB for his bold teaching techniques, turned his Project Management students loose in the "real world" to see what they could do.

Jimmy Yang's Stock Market Research Accepted for Publication
Yang's paper, titled "Relative Performance of Trading Halts and Price Limits: Evidence from the Spanish Stock Exchange", tracks effects of these two mechanisms in trading activity, volatility, bid-ask spread, and price discovery.

Wu Received L.L. Stewart Faculty Development Award
Zhaohui Wu, an assistant professor in the College of Business, has recently received the L.L. Stewart Faculty Development Award.
